VANCOUVER — Director of Services Chris Sallans grins in his Burnaby office while trying to explain Best Buy Canada jargon to a curious outsider without sounding like an Abbott and Costello Who’s On First comedy routine.

The geeks, all 1,582 of them in 207 Canadian locations, are referred to as “agents,” even though their signature Volkswagen bugs and company vehicles are called Geek Mobiles and they belong to a coast-to-coast team known as the Geek Squad.
